My current exhibition in Berlin at the state representation of Rhineland-Palatinate shows paintings of my Symbols-of-Democracy-Series. A team of the German television SWR came to shoot for their news program one day before the opening:
In the television report, the painting of the view from the terrace of the state representation of Rhineland-Palatinate was a main subject. The view is extremely interesting: It combines the ancient Reichstag building with its glass dome, the American Embassy and the holocaust memorial - a topic which was important to show amidst all the new and splendid buildings constructed for the German government. In spring 2021, I painted this view during three days on site:
Another subject of the television report was the Hambacher Schloss, which I had painted in fall 2022 - the symbol of Democracy for Germany after the French revolution:
It was great to see the project come to such a beautiful result two years after I had started painting the government buildings in the former wall district by the Spree in Berlin.
